Baby Mama: A Colorful Mothers Day at the Lake

I don't know about you but Im super excited for Mother's Day this year being it is my first offical! It is a totally deserved day for those hard working Mommies around. My husband said we can do anything I want this weekend, how lucky! The weather here is not so great so this is my dream day, it is more like mid June time for us to be spending the day at a little beach, but I still can't wait! The Minis: Cutesy Baby Booties

New column I'm calling the Mini's! It is where I will post all things baby and kid. I love these shoes by Cazhoffy! I want these boots for Clara so bad it hurts, but with it getting warmer out, there is really no point, right?! Or should I just do it. 

A Nursery on a Budget

It was a long and FUN journey creating our new baby girls nursery. A project like no other we have taken on in the house. My husband and I completely worked as a team, and he surprisingly compromised with everything I wanted in the room, probably because I'm pregnant! We were working with a tight budget, and I didn't want to go crazy on a room that will change in a couple of years, with lots of fancy furniture, that is no use to us down the road. I wanted pieces that could work in that room forever or in other places in our home.   

When I found out I was having a girl, I'm sure you can imagine what happened pretty much the minute after my ultrasound, I started shopping for treasures! Over the summer our surrounding neighborhoods having amazing garage sales. I found about 50% of the items for the nursery there.

The finished product! I think this dresser is my absolute favorite part about the room. It was $25 from a thrift store and I can not be more trilled with how it turned out. Also what makes the room is my very talented mother was kind enough to sew all the textiles for me so I had so much freedom selected fabric, which I found from Hathrowne Threads. 

I created the custom art work of our pets! Just a cheap and fun way I can use my own resources to add some color, personal touches and warmth to the room. 

The decals were originally from BILK which I had previously bought when we moved into our home 2 years ago! Talk about perfect fit for the nursery.

Friendly Animal Hats

Somebody really needs to stop me. I can't get enough of adorable kids clothing and accesories. Honestly, I would wear these hats if I could -- I love animals, and mini things so that is just about every kid clothing item there is. These hats at baby Gap make me want to collect them all, I can't choose just one! Also they are not online but they have matching booties as well! Yikes.

Little Esop

Baby, baby, baby! Thats all I have on the brain, but really who can blame me, I only have about 10 weeks left until my due date. I can't believe it! I have gotten so many cute clothes and things for my new baby girl, so I really need to not shop because I know how quickly they grow! How adorable is a tiny baby in a long skirt and a simple tee from Little Esop! 

Nursery Project: Mobiles

I adore these cute mobiles from various artist found at Fawn&Forest. I can't stop starring at them. I would purchase one except I really wanted to try making something similar. I do not sew but I think I can handle creating something like the first image, which is too cute for words. An update coming soon on what I have accomplished! 

DIY Lamp

This DIY over on poppy talk is the answer to my prayers! I have been lamp hunting for the nursery and this is just perfectly adorable, cheap, and so simple to do!

The Most Gorgeous Kid's Party

Can you barely stand it? I want this party right now for me as a grown up! It is so gorgeous it hurts your heart a little. This party was designed by a mother in Austin TX for her daughter Matilda's play group, talk about one talented Mama. Mom was inspired by Where the Wild Things Are and The Time of The Buffalo and was looking for a vintage, rustic, sunny modern feel, which she captured perfectly. Not to mention everyone at this party looks super adorable and stylish. Check out the rest of the info over on my new obsession for all things inspiring for kids Ohdeedoh.

Nursery Inspiration

This weekend, and basically all I can think about is BABY BABY BABY! Especially since we are having a girl I am overwhelmed with inspiration for her room. I am not a super pink matchy matchy girlie girl and I never have been. I do want my little girl to have a very sweet room without being too over the top with pinks and keeping it budget friendly at the same time. I love this photo for inspiration found on The Style files, with the blackboard wall, and great shelves, I think it is the prefect mix of girlie and comfort that we are looking for. 

We started painting last weekend the nursery Benjamin Moores decorator white which we love, and finished it off this weekend with a last minute decision of the trim in a cranberry and boy is it berry. I am not sure how I feel about it yet but looking forward to seeing everything set up in the room and how it comes together.

I have found mostly all the furniture at thrift stores and garage sales this summer and can't wait to get it in the room. I ordered a bunch of fabric from Hawthorne Threads  for the bedding and curtains which my lovely momma is gonna sew. I have many additional wishlist items I am dreaming about purchasing, we will see what I end up actually splurging on!
