Clara Turns 1!

It happened, well its actually happening Wednesday, but my little peanuts first birthday party was over the weekend. So much prep going into a little ones first birthday! I felt like it was a wedding. Okay not quiet, but a first birthday is a big deal. I finally gave up on a theme, and just went for a ton of color, balloons, streamers, and some Mickey Mouse (clara is head over heels in love with Mickey). The decor, the food, all of the love from family and friends, it actually turned out so much better then I was even envisioning! Don't ya love when that happens? Overall a magical day, for everyone we shared it with, I have one lucky little girl!

The Most Gorgeous Kid's Party

Can you barely stand it? I want this party right now for me as a grown up! It is so gorgeous it hurts your heart a little. This party was designed by a mother in Austin TX for her daughter Matilda's play group, talk about one talented Mama. Mom was inspired by Where the Wild Things Are and The Time of The Buffalo and was looking for a vintage, rustic, sunny modern feel, which she captured perfectly. Not to mention everyone at this party looks super adorable and stylish. Check out the rest of the info over on my new obsession for all things inspiring for kids Ohdeedoh.

Oliva Manna's Shop

I am hunting for some new packaging materials for orders and I stubbled upon this adorable shop Olive Manna's. Show me anything with stripes and I am hooked, I especially love the polka gray ribbon, wouldn't it look so adorable around some kraft paper wrapping, or a fun solid.

Did everyone see this over on Wedding Chicks and Jessica Claire? UM, Amazing! I love this shabby chic inspired button themed shower. It's so beautiful, the melon, teal, and bright yellow instantly brought a smile to my face. AND, The mini cakes, to die for! 

Oscar Party Recap

Oh the Oscars, boy do we love dress gawking, ballot filling, and meal planning once a year for our Annual Oscar Party. Usually it just ends up being my husband and I, but this year we actually got to plan a party! As I said earlier, Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion came over last weekend to help me craft up cute little goodie bags, and items for the party.

The theme of our party was a film noir inspired old hollywood vibe, decorated with yellows, golds, creams and browns. We created little bags for popcorn, and snacks to go with several best picture nominees. Note the American Airlines  "air plane snacks" for Up in the Air! 

Each attendee to our party brought a dish inspired by each film. We had so much food it was unbelievable. At the end of the night the ballot winner took home a pot of money and the official winner plaque, very serious. I did not defend my title this year, but I will prevail next, watch out. 

Oscar Party Sneak Peek

This year for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, my husband and I are hosting a party! We usually have a party each year, sometimes it just ends up being us but other times we have guests. However, party or not we always have at least 5 people in on a ballot competition. I hate to brag but I almost always win.  

This year, Cyd of the Sweetest Occasion and I are taking over the party decor over, thats right, and here is a sneak peek of some projects we were working on over the weekend.

Twig & Thistle Oscar Party

My husband and I throw and Oscar Party every year, we make movie inspired dishes, fill out ballots, make fun drinks, and its a blast, mostly because I win the ballot every year. This year we are getting a little more involved with the decor and menu, we have more guests attending and its going to be so much fun! I love this Oscar inspired party that Twig & Thistle has come up with. 

I love the layout of this ballot, very private so no one can see your selections, because well its a huge secret. Not to mention the cute red pencil to match!

Of course you need popcorn bags and these are just too cute for words! Stay tuned for an update from our party!

These cupcake liners from the etsy shop Cupcake Social totally speak for themselves! How cute would they be for a tea party, shower, weddings, kids birthday, the list really doesn't end. They make me want to throw a party just for them. Heck they make me want to open a cupcake shop!
